Thankfully my mother was a music teacher and played viola as a kid. The bridge was not already in place and the violin was definitely not tuned. The bow needed rosin. Once set up, it had a beautiful sound. I would have thought it was broken if I hadn’t had my mom to show me how to make it work. You have to scratch up the rosin and but enough on the bow or it won’t make a sound. I also would have put the bridge in backwards. Overall a great instrument for the price, but absolutely need help setting up if you are a beginner.

The tone is deep and rich, almost sounds like a viola. The pegs keep slipping, won't stay in tune, I just have to add some rosin to them and it should work fine.

I bought this violin for the color and to hang on the wall behind my piano as decoration. The color is a deep blue and it is very pretty. I didn't want to spend a lot since it will never be played and it is cheaply made because the tuning pins are very loose and won't stay in place. I was able to put the bridge on and had difficulty getting the strings tight enough to hold it in place. The fine tuning pins at the bottom also seem loose. I didn't tighten it up too much, just enough to hold the bridge in place. For wall decor, it looks really nice against pink walls and goes with the coastal decor of my living room. If you plan to learn to play the violin, this isn't it. But for decor, it's perfect.

I got this... my son excitedly opened it only to find the violin looked preused. It had scratches and nicks all over it. The strings werent right and no matter how we tried to tune it they wouldnt stay put and the tuning pegs constantly moved. The bow strings wouldnt tighten and the resin did absolutely nothing to the bow strings. Not to mention there were already cuts in the resin upon recieving it. Not a single note comes from the violin... this was a very disappointing product and at this rate i hope any who do purchase dont get the same disappointing outcome.
