I chose this anode rod because my water heater sits directly under the floor beam and I only had about 1.5' of clearance. This rod is perfect for tight clearances.Glad I changed out the rod cuz it was as narrow as a toothpick when I pulled it out!I used an impact drill to open the nut to get the original anode rod out, BUT make sure your impact drill is a really really strong one. I ended up calling the plumber cuz I couldn't tighten that nut back firmly enough. But it's still cheaper than a new water heater!

I’ve now installed my third water heater, as the previous two developed leaks just before the warranty expired. I'm not holding out much hope for this one, and we’ve also been dealing with our dishes smelling after every wash, despite having a new dishwasher and using city water. To address this, I decided to try a powered anode rod. These rods all operate on the same principle: a titanium rod powered by a small energy source that helps eliminate sulfur and rotten egg smells.Removing the old anode rod was straightforward—if you have an impact tool to break it loose, then switch to a ratchet. Be cautious with the impact tool to avoid increase of rotational motion, which could be problematic if the rod is heavily worn or corroded... just a fyi.Installing the powered rod was simple: just plug it in and forget about it. But b4 doing that, I wanted to perform a few checks. Out of the box, I measured 3 volts between the metal casing and the titanium rod. I noticed that when I plugged in the transformer, the LED was lit even before connecting it to the rod. What I would of liked to have seen is the LED light up ONLY when rod was plugged in indicating the rod is functional and drawing minimal current. Just not knowing how reliable this product is, I guess only way to check is remove the rod and measure voltage every 6 months/yr/2yrs...Cheers

Our water heater original anode was rotted and needed replaced after installing the water heater 2-year prior. Our well water must be hard on the water heaters. We experienced a bad odor of rotten eggs for awhile. After researching, I came across the electrical anode. I didn't want to keep replacing the traditional anodes and experience the smell again, so I purchased the electric anode. Within 2-hours, our water heater no longer had odor, and was pure clean hot water. I'd recommend this device over the more expense ones. I also purchased the same electric anode for my work water heater that is a much larger unit. It too worked on the larger water heater. Happy customer..

IT WORKS!Had the very bad sulfur smell in my hot water. Tried flushing, adding bleach even bought a new anode rod. Helped for a day or two then the smell came back. After installing this electric anode rod the smell was gone within a couple hours and is still gone as of this review.Would definitely recommend it for smelly hot water.

Installed OK. But transformer is warm and voltage is ~9 VDC. Nothing in box to say if this is OK and can't find any contact info. Tank resistance (with a standard multi-meter) was very high and transformer voltage was 24 VDC... before connection.

Product came well wrapped and is of good quality. Threads and alignment all good; fits most hw tanks which was godsend since I have 2 and had no idea of size.
