This bulb is very bright for its small size. It works great as a reverse bulb. It’s plug and play too.

I bought these to replace the backup lights on my 2014 Lexus RX350 when one of the original lights burned out. The Lexus dealership wanted a lot of money to replace the bulbs (it’s good to replace both when one burns out), so I decided to do it myself.I checked the car’s manual first to make sure the lights can be replaced by owner, reviewed the manual’s diagram to review the simple procedure, then put these new lights in, a very simple and quick process. There are several relevant videos on YouTube. The car’s original old-style, filament backup lights were not very bright; these LED replacements are much brighter and greatly improve rear vision through the rear-view mirrors and the rear-facing camera. (The lights are really bright, but not like airplane landing lights—those who know what I mean know what I mean.)These are more expensive than the filament bulbs, but at $2.25 per bulb they are a good deal and being able to install them myself saved labor costs I would have incurred at the car dealership.I bought the package of four in order to have spares; and in a stroke of good luck it turns out they will fit my wife’s car, too.Bottom line: While I can’t speak to the issue of longevity because I just installed these light, the price, brightness and ease of installation make them a winner.

Put in a 2012 f150. Used for reverse lights and 3rd light. 10x brighter than factory! Now I can actually see when I’m backing up at night. I’ve had these for about a year, and they’re still working.

I installed two of these bulbs as backup lights in a 2014 (Gen 4) Subaru Outback, as the OEM 921 bulbs are not bright even brand new, and as they age they dim further. I had installed 5.5 w LED bulbs with 30 ea. of the 4014 LEDs in our old 2009 Outback, and was pleased with the results, so, spotting these 7w / 45 ea. of the 4014 LEDs bulbs for about 1/2 the price per bulb, I figured I'd give them a try. The results are looking good, so far.Actually getting the sockets pulled out was a bit difficult as Subaru, as they sometimes do, seems to assume you have little Asian girl fingers with the strength of Hulk Hogan in his prime. (They probably have a special tool to turn the sockets, kinda like the 13.5 mm square inset bit needed for the rear differential drain and fill plugs in the older Gen 3 Outbacks. Try finding that at Harbor Freight!) A little gentle heat may help here, but keep it gentle and doesn't warm the parts over 150 deg. F or so... Getting the sockets put back in is even more frustrating, but, it can be done. The bulbs themselves seem to clear the housing / lens assembly "ok". I did not have any polarity issues, so either there are none, or, I got lucky on the 1st try twice. ;-)Once installed, a quick comparison showed these bulbs to be a bit brighter than the 5.5 w LED bulbs, and much brighter than the incandescent 921 bulbs. Left on for not more than 2 minutes, with the car running, heat buildup seemed moderate, and, as expected, slightly greater than the 5.5 w bulbs. Note however that this was on a cool night (temperature = 47 deg. F). The real test will come in the summer. The 5.5 w bulbs held up just fine this last summer in the 2009 Outback, however, it should be noted that in addition to the slightly lower power consumption, the '09 Outback's backup light housing (around the bulb) is a bit more spacious and other bulbs (ie., heat producers) are further away. The above uncertainty about heat buildup and possible damage to the bulbs in the summer is the main reason I did not give this bulb a 5.0 rating in a backup light application. The lumen rating is, as seems usual for LED bulbs from certain countries' vendors, vastly inflated. (For a good idea of realistic lumen per watt efficiencies, study the ratings on "big brand" bulbs, or, the Cree website. And don't assume an Amazon vendor has "best bin" Cree LED's in their products._Note, HOWEVER, even at only 5.5 watts per bulb, the LED bulbs in our 2009 Outback run too hot in the cargo light housing, and can kill themselves with self-heating if the cargo light is left on for long on a hot summer night. Said housings in Outbacks are very "tight" and allow for little heat sinking / dissipation. I've actually pulled it out of our 2009 Outback and am completely reworking it for a wafer type light I can heat sink to the rear. So, word to the wise, if your backup light housing is sort of tight to the bulb and doesn't allow for enough heat dissipation, most any really bright LED light you put in there may kill itself or become intermittent.OTOH, if there is a lot of room and / or good air circulation or heat sinking, LED bulbs with ratings of several watts may be ok.If you need even more light, or light for more than maybe a minute at a time, the best bet is to go with a light with a metal housing, mounted completely separately, and likely switched separately, too. Those, if well designed and manufactured, are better suited to handle the heat buildup of being on for over a minute.I did not notice a drop in brightness with the car engine off, compared to it on (and a higher voltage on the battery "+" rail. This bodes well for the device's current regulation, and that bodes well for its reliability if otherwise well constructed. No issues with flickering, strobing, etc., were detected.A last thought: Color temperatures of 5000k and over, while making for "crisp" illumination, are NOT eye-friendly to other drivers, and staring at them might even cause a collision. It would be nice to see these at a compromise color temperature of, say, 4000K.

The market is full of that type of LED lights, but this one stands out! In my business I use a lot of different light "bulbs" so I have some knowledge. These lights are GOOD! Recommended!
