It's an ok piece of steel. It is not a 4"x4"x0.5" like they claim. Thankfully I expected this and only needed a 3" square. Just be aware of this and buy bigger than what you need. Unfortunately some of us out there can't read a mic or tape.

I’m using it as a base plate for my desk press and it’s perfect, soft enough to not bend my metal die’s and hard enough not to get indents from them

This was for my 11 year old and it was still too small.. anvil is really not the term us laymen would use more like a thick piece of steel.. hammer is a half size!
