It is split, wish it wasn't. I read the review that said it was not split so ordered. The packing is a mess, its jammed in a small package which is not a game changer but you will need to tape it together as it does NOT have self adhesive on one side. The narrow tape they send probably won't hold although I haven't tried it yet an wont. Ill use a wider zip tape to hold together. As for the thickness seems to be pretty standard at 3/8 or so thick and is the denser rubber than the foam you get cheap at your local box store. I got it to go around my heated hose for added protection since it is forecast to get around 5 degrees. Value for the money, idk got it cause of next day delivery and I didn't have to go to a store after work. In summary I suppose, pros.... get it in 1 day, about the same as what you will buy at home depot. Cons... mashed together bad, although it doesn't hurt the ability. Tape is too narrow to keep it sealed so you will need some duct tape or simular to seal. All in all I got what I wanted, maybe its not for you. See photos I have put up for more information

Update I just installed this and it is not one half inch inside diameter not even 3/8 ". I installed it on a 3/8 in diameter and it had to be taped and squeezed to close the end so it shut.not split you have to cut them. My fault I see now it shows a picture cutting them.will work I guess but you also have to tape them to keep tight.A lot of extra work.

Insulation was all smashed not worth your time to try and install on pipe. Threw all away. Rubbish!

This pipe wrap is such poor quality. Flimsy. Poor packaging.
