This gate is very sturdy, easy to open and latches easily without coming dislodged from the door frame. It was also easy to assemble by myself. I really like the base that prevents clumsy people like me, from dislodging the entire bottom of the gate from the door frame by tripping and kicking the gate. I do wish these gates came in a full door size, but thankfully for me, the height of this one is perfect. I don't like my bedroom door closed during winter because I don't use central heat. But I also don't allow my cats or dogs in my bedroom. They have the entire house, but that's my fur-free sanctuary. I have allowed a couple of cats in the past to sleep with me, but got sick of cat hairs getting in my eyes and on my work clothes. Anyway, the shorter gates that I use are worthless for keeping the cats out...but so far, after about of month with this much taller gate, they haven't even attempted to try to jump it. I use a propane heat during the winter months so having the gate allows some heat to warm up my bedroom in the evening. I'm considering purchasing another one of these gates for my backdoor. I have a once feral cat that if I'm distracted about keeping the laundry room door closed while I put the dogs out, he will jump the regular gate and dart out the door like a rocket! I wouldn't mind so much, but I'm out in the country and we have huge owls, hawks, and coyotes. My cats are strictly indoor cats...and that's where I want to keep them. But having a gate between the kitchen/laundry room and backdoor would be great for fresh air coming in, but no cat going out!

Before we got this tall cat gate, our nightly ordeal involved our daughter's short-haired Persian cat prowling upstairs and serenading us with nocturnal melodies at 3 a.m. Well, those days are officially behind us, and let me tell you—this cat gate is worth its weight in gold! The setup process was a breeze. It was so easy to put together that even someone as un-handy as me had no issues. All the necessary tools and instructions were included, and I didn't even need to use the extension pieces that came with it. A+ for ease of assembly! The gate is tall enough that our short legged Persian has never even attempted to jump over it, let alone succeed. The vertical bars are spaced perfectly—no gaps for her to sneak through. I also foster kittens and they can't get through wither. It's surprisingly stylish and blends well with our home decor. What truly sold me on this gate, apart from its height, is its user-friendly design. It's incredibly easy to open, and it features a clever little notch that keeps it open if you swing it all the way. On the flip side, if you don't open it fully, it self-closes, making it convenient for those busy mornings when you have your hands full.Best of all? We get to sleep soundly through the night, without a cat scratching at the door and singing the song of her people in hopes of rescue. I can't put a price tag on a good night's sleep, but I can assure you, this gate is worth every single penny. In summary, if you're in need of an effective, easy-to-assemble, and user-friendly solution to keep your feline friend from invading certain areas of your home, look no further. This tall cat gate has exceeded all of our expectations, and I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Bottom line: It's great if you need to manage cat access! It came packed very well and sets up in just a couple minutes. Easy to change the width with the included extension panels, also in minutes. It has a threshold piece to help keep it in place and keep you from banging your feet on it. Sturdy, swings both directions, auto-closes and has a hold-open feature. We're still able to close the door without removing the gate when privacy is needed. Overall, quite thoughtfully designed. We adopted two young kittens who are a handful at their age! I wanted to keep them out of our office space while still being able to watch them through the doorway. This is perfect. When we need to focus on work, we can close the gate and the kitties stay out but visible, so we can monitor their trouble-making. It's given me peace of mind that's definitely worth the reasonable price. Highly recommend.

We have 4 cats and a room with a small aviary with parakeets. Two of the cats are recent arrivals - kittens - and the regular, tall gate we used to cordon off the birds was useless with these two. I bought this one, with high hopes, and am mostly pleased with it. One of our kitties - an Abyssinian - could probably clear the roof of our house, so I had to add another level of fencing on top of this one. For the rest of the "normal" cats, this is a perfect solution. They can't get through the slats, and there's nothing to grip onto in order to climb over it. My only issue with the gate is the latch takes a bit of muscle to pull it up. We have 3 other, smaller gates, and this is most fussy to open. Otherwise, it's solid, was easy to install, love the added base pieces, and includes all the expansion pieces.

This gate works really well at the head of a stairway. It is too tall to be jumped by cats and is easily accessible to humans. The one critique I would have is that, while its configuration of parts makes it easy to fit the opening, the instructions on installing these parts are not clear at all. It took lots of trial and error.

I needed a barrier while my dog got used to our kitten. At this point I'm pretty sure they are playing tag through it....I also have a couple of small pets I don't want the kitten to find out about. It's nice and pretty sturdy. It's tall enough that both the cat and dog stay put. It's easy to put together even with the unclear instructions. It's easy to install too. It's currently in a hallway and is opened frequently and has held up just fine despite my kids swinging it carelessly.
