This works way better than the traditional stud finders we have. It was very helpful with finding the studs on my lath and plaster walls.

I wish I had ordered a magnetic stud finder prior to June 2024 because I struggled with locating the studs in our downstairs full bathroom shower/tub. The shower is tiled so all three of the stud finders I own did not work on tile (I already knew it would not) so I had to locate the studs on the exterior wall of the house then transfer those measurements into the shower/tub, which was not easy because there is only a small window above the shower. So I had to use a laser level to transfer the stud locations up the exterior wall then thru the window.I was installing safety grab bars in the shower prior to construction starting in the upstairs master bathroom, putting that shower out of commission for one month, and both myself and my spouse are senior citizens and the downstairs shower/tub did not have safety grab bars (wife had fell before in that shower so we stopped using that shower five years ago).Upon receiving this magnetic stud finder, I did test it on the shower tile to see if the claim that it works on tile is true (because the cheap magnetic stud finder I have is not strong enough and cannot penetrate tile) and the result is that it “kind of works†but not 100%, but it is better then the cheap one I have. I do plan on using this magnetic stud finder to install two additional safety grab bars in the upstairs master bathroom.It would have came in real handy in June/July 2024 when we started our whole house window replacement project. A lot of time was wasted trying to locate hidden nails in the exterior window trim that were concealed under a really good paint job.Is this the best magnetic stud finder available, answer is no. But its better then the small magnet stud finder that I already have (about the size of a pencil eraser.) The suggested MSRP is not cheap but does not break the bank. The red color stands out if you throw it into your toolbox, so easy to find. I plan on attaching it to the nail puller I use. I am giving it a 4 Star rating, minus 1 star because it was not able to locate some of the nails behind the tile in the shower.

Saw this item being used on a You Tube video and ordered for home. Works like a charm. So much better than running a digital handheld all over the wall and knocking looking for stud. Bought two more to put in young adult kids stockings!
