as taps and dies sold ubder US brand names. I noticed that most US brands are made in China anyway, so I decided to go straight to the source and save money. While I don't know if it will hold up to as much stress as a major brand set will, it did perform well for me. I used the die on a gun barrel and on a steel pipe, and used the tap on a stainless steel bushing.

I bought the 1/2x28 set earlier to make muzzle devices and was pleased so I purchased this set to do some 5/8x 24 pieces. I have a lathe so tapping isn't too big of a deal but I can see how it might be trying these fine thread taps by hand in something supported say in a vice without a way to center the tap or die. I also purchased a chucking reamer the correct size for the hole for tapping so it would be exact not over or under size. I always drill under size then bore the holes with a small boring bar and leave a small percentage for the reamer for the clean up. Muzzle devices need to be concentric and not off center for obvious reasons and barrel threading should always be concentric to the bore. Cutting new threads especially on a barrel by hand could turn out bad. I would never do it.

Needed to fix my Mosin Nagant threads and suppressor after I had it fall while taking it off trying to put the muzzle brake back on. Ot damaged both the threads on the muzzle ans suppressor. Shipping was fast and this is the best deal I've found so far.

Great tap and die set. Just used mine for the seventh cut yesterday. Get a 9/16 bit to pre tap and you will be in business. Have cut all types of aluminum and 316ss with no problems. Will purchase again when mine does decide to wear out.

I used the die to make some bushings to go from a barrel that was threaded 1/2 28 TPI to 5/8 24TPI so I could thread a .308 suppressor on. It doesn't leave the smoothest thread ever but they work.

Tap worked great the die in my opinion was tight but they got the job done I would look for one with an adjustment screw

Worked very well chasing threads on a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Good thing to keep around if you're shooting threaded 30cal+ barrels.
