Good for wire retention, but a huge pain to hammer into anything. I use a 20oz framing hammer, it still takes multiple hits to drive it in. And when you miss, you'll probably smash the ring flat in one blow. Hold it with pliers to protect the ring.

when i got these in the mail they did not measure 1/2 inch but closer to 7/8 of an inch ===with the cost of shipping it was not cost effective to send them back

These are great for running cabling, but are a little big for household installs of a few runs of cat5. Wish I could find these in a smaller size.
