I used this velcro yesterday and hand-stitched it onto a doll dress I made. First, let me address some of the "bad" reviews I read about this product before I purchased. 1) Yes. The soft side is soft. Yes. The hook side is prickly. Why would a person give Velcro a bad review because the hook side isn't also soft?? Have you ever even SEEN Velcro before?? That is literally the way it works. 2) No, I don't suppose that one other person had much luck getting the adhesive to stick, since it has no adhesive. The online description literally instructs the user to hand-stitch it. Anyway, my observations: The soft side is very soft and easy yo sew on. The hook side is a plastic-like material and hard to poke a needle through. I used my thimble and it was fine. The Velcro as a whole holds very tight. I used several short pieces of it instead of a long strip to lessen potential damage to the dress with repeated opening and closing. Overall - I love it! And it should last a long time.

Hook side on hard plastic, not fabric. It is on a thin brittle clear hard plastic material, stuff is so cheap and brittle I wont even attempt to sew with it. The loop side is fine, not the hook side.

I bought this for small doll clothes for Christmas boxes-from Barbie size and smaller. It is very narrow and not so sticky it tears the finer fabrics. It is great for this purpose.
