- Install the lock nut retainer on the main output shaft of the transmission.
- You only need to drop the transfer case and can leave the transmission still assembled in the vehicle. The retainer simply slides into place in the shaft and is kept secure by the transfer case's input shaft.

I have a 99 Ram with the NV 4500 great repair for the 5th gear nut that has problem falling off collar tool keeps it from ever back off again works great also I have the 4 by 4 model

This locknut setup worked like it should. I used red loctite when I put it on and it hasn't backed off yet.

Was the perfect fix for losing my 5th gear in my nv4500, it's been in for about 2 weeks and no problems this far.Update: The nut backed off and the Spacer broke. I am unable to find a way to contact them for replacement as it has not been 12 months.
