Lifting a 150+ fifth wheel hitch into and out of a truck bed has always been a back-breaking chore. Previously I had a crank-type come-along winch that I used with a chain wrapped around the hitch to lift it up. The problem was - it was very uneven weight wise and swayed a lot, tipped to one side and generally was hard to handle.With this device I simply lock the jaws of the hitch around this (just as if I was hooking up to the kingpin of the trailer) - attach it to my new chain hoist and lift. The weighty hitch comes out perfectly balanced and does not tip to one side or another.This gadget is solid steel, so it'll last forever. It's heavy duty but not heavy to handle, and it stores easily in my carport right next to my truck where I need it.Whomever invented this is a genius and I just wish I had found it much earlier than I did.I've recommended this via various RV forums that I am a member of and several fellow-members have reported purchasing one as well. They seem to be as happy with it as I am.It's not something that I'll use more than every month or so - but, it's already paid for itself in the two times I have used it so far.It is an EXCELLENT product.

Construction quality of item is poor. The bottom plate is misaligned and there is a variable gap between the bottom plate and the lifting portion of the item. Also the bottom plate and the vertical lifting portion are not perpendicular. I don't trust the item due to the low quality construction and am returning the item to Amazon. This is the second time I have commented about this item and would welcome an explanation from the manufacturer.

I use an engine hoist with this device. Once the hitch is up, I pull the truck forward then lower the hitch onto a dolly. Perfect solution.
