This chimney flashing is easy to install. Ours is a double core insulated chimney ( 6 inch inside a 10 inch outer). The outside layer comes through the roof and is not very hot. It is probably hotter in the summer sun than any heat from the inner chimney in winter. The silicon boot temperature rating is -65F to 250F so there should be no temperature related issues with this flashing. When you cut the boot to match your chimney size it has to be 20% smaller so you stretch it and get a snug fit, like a tight o'ring. The compression pressure is what stops any water leaking. Diameter measurements are marked on the side of the chimney boot as a guide where to cut. It easily cuts with sharp scissors. You seal the aluminum base with silicon sealer. Then put in your mounting screws. We also covered the screws with sealer as an extra water prevention method. It was harder to remove and clean away the old flashing than it was to install the new version. It will be interesting to see how many years this flashing will survive the brutal summer sun but so far it looks like a high quality product and it works as described in the product description.

The boot looked a little rough from the journey, but that didn’t impact its performance on our greenhouse wood stove. I cut it to size, slid it over the chimney, and secured it to the plastic with roofing adhesive. The fit is tight, and we have no more leaks! Rubber roofing boots are far superior to the old sheet metal style—easier to install and much more leak-resistant.

I used when I added a wood burning stove to my home. I used as an additional layer of water proofing for the application of a 6" pipe and it seems to be a very tight fit. I did use a tiny bit of oil on the pipe so it would slip on better.

This was pretty easy to install. Seems to be made decent. It looks nice
