I am mostly satisfied with my Heyoxista Dustless Chalk With Holder,Non-Toxic Washable Chalks set includes 72 pieces colored chalks. I love the box they come in. It is very nice, making this a great gift idea. The trays hold and display the colors well, protecting them from breakage.I love the plastic crayon holders that come with this set. These plastic tubes protect the chalk sticks from breaking and keep your fingers and hands clean! The plastic tubes can be saved and used over and over, even after all the chalk is gone.I love the colors! There is such a wide variety of shades and colors! There's really only 8 colors, and then the rest are different shades and hues of those eight. So you don't just get a red. You get an orange-red, yellow-red, red-orange, dark red, crimson, etc.! This set has a large collection of browns, beige, and other earth tones not commonly found in crayon boxes. This dustless chalk says it is good to use on a wide variety of surfaces, but NOT sidewalk or cement! So - is it even chalk? You can use them on glass, chalk boards, paper, wood and more. But not cement. I used the dustless chalk to do some drawing, and it felt more like I was coloring with crayons rather than chalk.Crayons are made from melted parafin wax with added pigment. Regular chalk is made of calcium carbonate. Dustless chalk is a mixture of both calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate (gypsum) and a binder, like PVA (poly vinyl acetone) which is a glue. So while dustless chalk is more closely related to sidewalk chalk, it really acts more like crayons. The only thing that could make this set better was if all the chalk sticks had plastic sleeves, instead of just a few. When I drew with them, I wanted to use more than just the red. I used the bright red, dark red, orange red and more - and was constantly switching chalk sticks in and out of the plastic sleeves to insert the colors I wanted to use. It would just be better if all the chalk sticks had sleeves. I know that drives up the cost, too, but it would definitely be more useful.

There aren't many colors with this 72 piece set. Only 12 have holders, so once you use up a chalk, you have to put another chalk in the holder. What a rip off!! There are like 12 colors , repeated, and the colors are muddy. They don't adhere to chalkboards very well. But the muddy only 12 colors is the worst. The website makes it sound as if there are many shades of many colors but there are not.

This is a HUGE pack of chalk with so many colors! My little ones love it! They even come with chalk holders to keep your hands clean and be able to hold the chalk easily. I will say if you use this on the driveway or stone, I found this dustless chalk to stick a bit more than regular chalk. Something to think about if you intend to get this for kids. Other than that, it’s a beautiful pack and would make a great gift for adults and kids alike.

These do have a bit of a waxy feel, rather like a crayon, but they blend more. It is interesting that you can color with them and then put watercolor on top to add layers of depth. They really showed the tooth of the watercolor paper but are smoother on drawing paper. I tried them on my whiteboard. They write, and they also erase easily. I am sure there are more things to try with them. They have quite a few of the protectors, so you could choose your palate and put the chalks in the holders. I don't think you really need one protector per chalk, especially since there are 72 sticks of chalk and only 48 colors. There are repeats. I am going to enjoy playing with these and so are my grandchildren. The box that is very nice, both for gift giving and for storing the chalks.
