the rubber has some give to it, but doesn't appear that it will snap and break like those little blue caps you get to protect the plug. Only time will tell as we just installed it, but very happy so far.

This cap has to be oriented upwards like shown in the product images. I tend to lay my safety chains and wiring connector across the tongue of the trailer when not in use which would cause this to hang downwards. I found out pretty quickly it will NOT work in that orientation. This apparently does not create a water tight seal since it actually does the opposite of what you want. In that position it actually collects water. I am going to have to find a better place that I might be able to use this on the trailer where it is oriented upwards like in the pictures otherwise this will likely cause the connector to fail sooner.
