If you figured out what this part is you dont need me to go into the specifics. I bought these to replace the cable mounts in my truck and it worked great. They do need to be forced into the slot but not with much force at all. I used channel locks and it popped in just fine.Im so glad these parts are available and that I bought them.

The ends fit the cables well enough, but I had to use a small round file to make the opening for the cable large enough for the cable to pass through without dragging against the ferrule. I also had to file a flat spot on the retaining surface so that the ferrule could be inserted into the latch assemble and then rotated 180* so that it couldn't come back out accidentally. Otherwise you would have to spread the metal cable keeper to install the cable ends.

These worked great. Easier than replacing the entire mechanism and cheaper. There is a difference between the upper and the lower ones in order to fit into the slots properly. This was not explained on packaging but was able to figure it out. You tube helps.
