Obviously these brackets are designed for use with a pergola - and for that purpose they will be excellent. They are well made with a good finish. But I like them for their potential in shoring up an old deck - that is, building a new deck in the same place, with the same footings/piers as before. These brackets will provide reinforcement where new is attached to old (all done structurally, but nice to have the reinforcement too). The ability (i.e., holes) to connect in all three dimensions is useful.... Or, I may just save them for the pergola we have planned for next year. Either way, these will work.

Thanks for reading my review!The construction of these brackets is phenomenal - they are super strong, very thick and provide the right kind of support you will need for your pergola and/or other free-standing structure. I love that these will stand up to the elements and will not corrode, and the finish is an elegant matte black. All the screw holes are lined up in the perfect place, and installation was easy as pie.

These post brackets seem to be solidly constructed. Painted powder-coated steel finish is nice. They appear to be a good fit for 4x4 posts, and should make for a simple assembly.

These are at a great price point and while simple and lighter they will do the job perfectly. We are building a gazebo and needed these in order to expand our span. Nice finish, simple design and the metal is heavy duty enough to provide the support we need. My favorite thing about them is the lower price.
