It took a while to figure out how to insert the blades in the handle but having figured this out, I prefer these to "x-acto" knives for crafting and other uses. Plus, one never know when one might have to perform an emergency tracheotomy or some other procedure . . .

Exactly what I was after, figuring out how to put the tip on was alittle tricky but once down it's not so bad

Not even as sharp as an X-acto knife.

Wow these things are sharp! I was scared when I was inserting the blade into the handle. Afterward I ran the blade through a piece of paper and it cut it so easily that the paper didn't move even though I wasn't even holding it. Be aware that there are 2 different sized handles and blades, so if you try to install a blade and it doesn't fit, that's why, you have the wrong handle. I also cut a piece of thick leather and it went through easily. That is the primary purpose I ordered these for since I make custom knives and sheaths. These scalpels should work great for that and also for many more hobby jobs. For the price that includes 2 handles and 90 blades, plus a plastic storage box, it would be hard to go wrong. I would buy again.

I like the options that are available, I've used already one blade on each handle. When I think of scalpel, I think of sharp. These have not been very sharp yet. Is take an exactly blade for sharpness over these any day.
