My boat mechanic installed this trigger and it was miswired. We tried to use different combinations with no luck. In the end we bought a different one and the boat now runs.

I bought this to replace a working trigger on my 70 horse 1980 mercury outboard. The old trigger was still working, just wanted to put a new one on there. When I try to start it with the new one, it was spit in sputter, stop the starter, but would not run. Long story short I put the old trigger back on and it runs fine. I wonder if the wires got flipped around inside the trigger because I made sure that the right colors went to the right terminals on the CDI box.

The trigger wires were not bundled together correctly. 3 wires should be bundled with a yellow sleeve and the other 3 wires should be bundled with a black sleeve to correspond with the yellow bundled wires from the stator. The wires on this trigger were bundled in pairs with all yellow sleeves which makes installation and firing order trial and error.

I have a 1988 mercury 60hp that was running but the original trigger had a broken adjuster.I put the new one on and could not adjust enough to even come close to having timing set.Closest I could get was still 30 degrees off.And motor would no longer start or run.Put the old one back on just to check ,set the timing and motor started right up .I am sending back for a refund and have already bought a mercury trigger.I would not risk damaging my motor buying or trying another one of these.

Put it on my motor for the third time different ones And it ran less than a minute and went out again at least I didn’t have to get towed back this time I never left my yard before it went out

did not fit 1994 mercury 25hp seapro. gives only 0,5volt signal. this outboard requires 5 volt

I have spark with my old trigger but the insulation on the wires were deteriorating so I purchased this unit & installed it now I have no spark even after reading other comments saying don’t buy well now I’m saying it don’t buy

This part was exactly the same as the OEM part that it replaced.
