This hasp is a solid piece of hardware. The steel on the hasp is around 2Â mm thick, and the shackle hole piece uses 3Â mm thick steel, folded for double thickness around the shackle. The shackle hole is 12.5Â mm (0.49"). All screws are concealed when the hasp is locked. It uses 9 fasteners total, 5 for the hasp side and 4 for the shackle side. The package includes 3 bolts and 6 screws. The bolts are 2-inch long #10-32 truss style bolts (not screws; there is no recess in the head for a screwdriver) with washers and nuts to be fastened from the back side. These won't be useful if you're attaching it to something more than 2 inches thick, such as a square wooden post. The bolts have a square section below the head, which fits into square holes on the hardware to prevent the bolts from turning while you tighten the nuts. The six screws are #10-16 countersunk screws using a #2 Philips drive, 1-inch long including the countersink. Most of the holes on the hardware are not countersunk, so the screw heads stick out a fair bit. Two of them are countersunk (at the hasp hinge), but not very deeply, so the screws still stick out. ABUS's choice of screws is a bit odd.The shackle side piece is meant to use two bolts and two screws, while the hasp side uses one bolt and four screws. On the hasp piece, there is a square hole in the center (presumably for the third bolt, there is no other place the bolt could go), but the square hole on this piece is larger, and the bolt can spin freely in the hole instead of being held in place. This seems to be either a mistake or a manufacturing defect. It shouldn't really matter though, it's secure enough without that bolt.If you are screwing it to something that is more than 2 inches long and can't use the bolts, both pieces can still be secured using only the screws, though I would recommend getting some additional screws to populate the other holes in that case. I used a mixture of GRK cabinet and R4 screws throughout; the flange heads provides a much better fit than the screws that ABUS provides, and the R4 screws match the two countersunk holes much better than the provided ones as well.

I purchased this hasp to secure a truck tool box that had a broken lock and needed to be more secure anyway. Because of the contour of the box lid and the box this was the perfect hasp. It was an easy fix except i needed to go with larger bolts than the hasp base plate (where the lock goes through) could handle. That part is hardened steel and can not be drilled without some extra work. For those of you that want to enlarge those four holes you will need one or two concrete bits and one or two cobalt bits, you will burn all of them up doing the job but it is possible to do it. It is more like burning through than drilling but it can be done. When they say hardened they are telling the truth. The rest of the job was easy and the job worked out perfect. I did not know this hasp could be purchased this length (9 inch), it was just what i needed. I've heard they offer a 10 inch but i have never seen it offered. All in all wonderful product does what it is supposed to do and if you need a hasp to wrap something this is the hasp for you. GOOD PRODUCT----NO COMPLAINTS

This was the only place that I could find a hasp this size to lock the swinging wooden driveway gates. The hasp does its job, but high winds will strain it on this large gate. I spray painted it black for aesthetic purposes. It took the paint well. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I bought these to install on the doors of my garage I use for storage. The hardware that comes with it is decent, was going to drill out holes slightly to use larger hardware, even my good usa made drill bits wouldn’t touch it. So I’d say they are made out of good steel, definitely better than master lock hasps.

Finding a hasp that would wrap around a corner is no easy thing. We needed a place to put medications and smaller valuable things like that when we are not home. We call it "housekeeper proofing".These hasps worked great and they did not mess up the sharp look of the cabinets.Obviously somebody could rip those wooden cabinets apart with a crowbar but this will definitely be a deterrent from pilfering. If somebody breaks into the cabinet we'll know it.Maybe this was over kill for wooden cabinet doors but we like to maintain a nice sharp appearance in our home. Five stars for sure.

Stronger than all Master Lock hasps I came across so far. It was 15,50$ when I bought it (november 2019). And at that price it's a no brainer! I install one today (to replace a Master Lock hasp) and I'm very satisfied. I put an ABUS 83WP/63 padlock on it. It's a bit tight but it works. If you don't mind a smaller shackle you could use the ABUS 83WP/53, but for me the shackle of the 53 is way to small to provide enough security.Of course it's not as heavy duty as the "Abus 130/180 Industrial 6-1/8-Inch High Security Hasp" I bought a few weeks ago for my main garage door. But that one is 100$ !

This is very strong compared to my old hasp and because of the articulation point in the middle if the shed shifts a little bit in the winter you can still lock up easily. There is stronger but this is a huge upgrade for such little money. Just make sure to bolster the wood behind the hasp and the hinges after you install this.

Hasp may be too big for some applications.
