- Measures all threads from 3 to 48 threads per inch and all metric from 0.5mm to 6mm pitch.

Three wire method of checking pitch diameter of screw threads
- M = Measurement over wires.
- E = Pitch Diameter of thread
- D = Basic major or outside diameter
- W = Wire diameter
- P = Thread pitch
- M = E + Const
- E = M - Const
- Const. = 3W – 86603p (found in chart)
The maximum and minimum pitch diameter (E) for each class of thread can be found in machines’ handbook

Lovin' this wire set. Spot on dimension, wire holders work well. Case is a little hard to open when new, but seems better with each use. Great set for the home workshop.

Normally wouldn't go cheap on tools, I subscribe to the buy once, cry once mentality, but I had an immediate need, and next day delivery is hard to argue with...I measured each and every wire, they were consistent in their diameter groups, but each group was consistently .0001 - .0004 under the published sizes, not a problem if you're just doing the math when measuring. Everything was clean and well oiled, though the outside of the plastic case was oiled too for some reason, so the stickers immediately fell off. The oil on the outside is my only real gripe, the holders work as advertised, and make it simple to 3 Wire threads.

Love the case good. Extra storage bin on bottom to hold the pin carriers. Oiled so had nice finish and great accuracy when measured thread.

I am giving this 5 stars,even though the plastic box leaves a lot to be desired.Its still better than the vinyl packaging the other wires come in.The finish looks good.I have not used them yet because,I use my Mitutoyo digital thread pitch micrometer for everything 1†and under.I may write a more detailed review later

Great wires for thread measurement. While I will always use threads mics over wires, sometimes I don't have mics available, or large enough. These are inexpensive and arguably more accurate than thread mics, they just take longer to set up, calculate mow (measurement over wire) and are hard to hold on to. Bought a set for home and work.

I'm just learning to cut single point threads on a metal lathe. These were helpful to assess the Pitch diameter and to help understand where my cut threads were binding on the nut. In hindsight, probably not necessary, but they were helpful in the learning curve. The .029" wires measured between .02880 and .02905 on my Mitutoyo micrometer. I bought this set mainly for the box that looked easier to find on the shelf. It is fine, but the lid is very tight, and I need to use a thin blade knife to shoe-horn the lids off and on. It looks like the tabs on the lids would break if you try to twist the lid off by hand. The included black rubber wire holders were a good addition. They hold 2 wires on the micrometer and were helpful to measure the threads while on the lathe. Overall pretty happy with this purchase.
