Purchased this for my 2001 Chevy Tahoe. Tried a Dorman part first, but being typical man that "don't need no instructions" I flubbed that up by plugging the power into the unit before it was seated in the mount. DON'T DO THAT!! This ACDelco part was the EXACT replacement for my truck and worked great. A bit difficult to get put into place, especially for larger men like myself because of the location under the drivers side dash, but absolutely worth saving the $$$ it would take to let a mechanic shop do it.Again though, DO NOT PLUG the power into this unit until you have it all securely mounted into place. Also, what I did was set my controller to the defrost setting and made sure the door was in that mode when I installed this unit. The gears have to line up for installation. When I first turned the truck back on, the controls were opposite. Meaning, on defrost setting, it would blow out the feet and vice versa. I unmounted and unplugged the A/C controller unit from the dash for about 5 minutes, and plugged it back in. Then started the truck again, it recalibrated and all went right with the world again. I don't know if that is "standard procedure" but that is how it worked for me.

Installed this part on my Tahoe, worked great for a month and already stopped working. Has power but actuator won’t run just hums. Pain in the butt to install and already broken, plus it’s made in China, not what my truck had previously that lasted 230,000 miles.

I tried to replace the actuator with two Dorman brand actuators. Both Dorman actuators would bind when trying to move from the face vents to other settings. Bought this AC Delco actuator and it worked flawlessly. Buy once, cry once. This was not a fun job once, let alone three times within a week. Don’t forget to calibrate the unit upon installation.

this part was great for my 1999 silverado.........it is, however very hard to install, much harder than it is to remove........unless you are VERY mechanically inclined, do not try to do it.the problem is getting the 2 levers on the air box into the groves on the cam disc on the new part.......to do this i had to turn on key, put fan on medium speed and push both levers all the way [the air from fan holds them there] from where they will sit when part is not on the truck [when you initially remove the part you can hear them both fall by gravity to a position that is NOT the default postion with all HVAC switches set to off].problem is, the one lever WITHOUT the gear on it[one closest to firewall] is now in the defrost position which IS NOT the default position.so i did not tighten the 'upper' mounting screw quite all the way, and as i slowly turned the vent selector switch to defrost, i heard it pop into the cam disc grove as the grove passed by it............then tightened the screw the last turn or two.to replace the screws you must tape them in the correct 1/4" drive socket tool with masking tape.......the top one is very hard to get a turning device on your socket because of things in the way......i turned my socket with screw taped in it with a pair of pliers.....you also might try an allen wrench that just happens to fit into the 1/4" drive end of your socket.DO NOT ever hook the new part up electrically to the vehicle and operate the HVAC knobs it will rotate past its travel [without levers in groves] and most likely be ruined......if you get all the dash pieces out of the way [youtube is great for that] and remove the faulty part you may save some money on paying some shop to install your part.i've fixed alot of things in my life this was one of the most difficult.......and i built my own house [NO subcontractors] and built custom yachts all my life.the vehicles that have a part similar to this WITHOUT the grooved cam plate on it are much easier to install........like the hot/cold blend door actuator on my vehicle.

I liked that this part came ready to put on. What I didn't like was, it did not come with instructions on what to do or not to do. You either had to YouTube it or learn from trial and error. Either way what may be easy to me, may not be for others. So if you gave instructions for the part, it would safe a tremendous amount of time and replacement/returns. Most people don't research the part and assume that it has instructions. Other than that.. The part works fine.
