I had this weird issue where my alternator would act like an engine brake every 5 minutes or so. It squealed the belt like it hated it. I burned through several alternator belts, and even replaced the alternator. It turned out the voltage regulator was to blame. Corrosion had gotten the better of it. I slapped this ACDelco unit on and then everything worked fine, like nothing had happened.

I replaced the original voltage regulator for this one, on my 66 Ford. It fits and works perfect! I spend a little more Vs the generic versions… and I am happy I did!

Fixed overcharging and backfeed feom alternator into ignition on 1970 Mercury Monterey.Engine would not shut off after I installed an electronic ignition module in the stock distributor. A relay tied to the ignition wire (that ran to the coil) switches battery voltage to the ignition module. (Work-around of Ford / Mercury dropping voltage to the coil via the resistor wire).The old voltage regulator fed about 4.5V from the alternator back to the ignition after I turned off the engine AND removed the key. The 4.5V kept the relay on, which then would provide battery voltage to the electronic ignition.After I replaced the old voltage regulator with this part, the voltage from the alternator does no longer feed back to the ignition. The engine turns off as it should when I remove the key from the ignition.

This was a drop in replacement for on my '69 F100. The replacement screw holes lined up perfect and the Pinot was the same. The only difference was color and a slight depth reduction and I'm not complaining about extra room after the work is done.

Was a direct fit and works perfect in my 1965 Ranchero 289. The only knock on the item, and it’s a biggie, is that it is made in China.

There is nothing to like or dislike about this, it just needs to do what it's supposed to do, and in my case, it does do that. Next thing to consider is the price, and It was less expensive thru Amazon than it was at the local auto parts store. That to me, is worth the wait, if you are able to wait.

Lasted 10 minutes on my loader before it was overcharging again. Absolute garbage. Switched to a 1 wire alternator due to the lack of good quality external regulators

They must have changed this product and not updated the photo, this looks nothing like the one I bought last year from the same listing, that one looked like the photo, this new one looks like the cheap Chinese ones that cost half as much… I bought 2 thinking the first one that came was swapped and return but the second one came the same.. disappointed in the change as the old one looked better made. We’ll see if this one holds up. Fit wise it’s good. The one I returned the pins were all bent up. Do better ACDelco…
