It always bothered me that my 1st gen jbl 305s have no grilles or guards and so are vulnerable to 'der gefinger depoken' damage, so I thought I'd give these a try. They appear to fit well, though I can't tell if they compress the woofer surround or not - I can't hear any sonic changes, so that's a good sign.I simply had to remove the old screws (3mm hex), place these grills over the woofer and put the screws back in. They even add a nice splash of color, and now I don't have to worry about accidentally poking the woofers!(The grille 'surrounds' are plastic, so have a bit of give to them, but the grilles, which fit inside the plastic rim, are metal.)Nice. Convenient, Simple, and, as hear as I can tell, works fine. Now to do the the two other sets of 305s I have....:)
