Acrylic Viny Record Slipmat
What is a slipmat?
As the name suggests, it's a small mat that is placed between the record and the deck on your turntable. A simple but essential piece of DJ technology. Slipmats are surprisingly useful, and using good quality slipmats can potentially make all the difference in the world for vinyl DJs as they steadily master the basics of mixing and beatmatching.
What material should we choose for the slipmat, MDF or acrylic?
Acrylic - Although it is one of the denser options, this surface can provide consistent speed and reduced vibration, which can make for a better sound experience all around. Any additional noise can be further dampened because the acrylic mat is the same material as a record.
We can consider listening to the same album on different types of material and decide which produces the most ideal sound quality or does a good job of reducing other mechanical sounds. While there are some functional variables, such as the feel of a material or how much dust it attracts, the ultimate factor might be our subjective impression. In the end, the ultimate indicator of "what sounds best" may be our ear.

Photos are of this white acrylic anti static slip mat, a translucent green record on my original black rubber slip mat, and then the same record on this white acrylic slip mat. I like how it makes the translucent color of the record really pop. I bought this to help eliminate static electricity during playback as well as when taking the record off. With my original black rubber mat, static would build up and after playing about 4 or 5 records I’d have to do some anti static tricks to make it go away. Anti static brush, drag a dryer fabric softener sheet across the mat as it spins, etc. With this acrylic mat, I’ve played about 20 records and so far there’s been no noticeable static build up. I’m sure eventually there will be some, but so far it’s been a night and day difference between my rubber mat and this acrylic mat. Some have mentioned it has improved sound, but I personally haven’t noticed any difference, but that’s not why I bought it. Also, the diameter is slightly smaller than a 12†record, which leaves just enough overhang of the edge of the record to be able to grip the record with my fingers to lift it off the mat. It’s also got some nice weight to it, but not too much. Completely happy with this product, and the price really wasn’t all that unreasonable.

The 12 solid plate gives stability that it seriously needed.Recommended to anyone that has a 6†turntable plate.

I picked up a vintage Hitachi turntable from my local thrift store. After I replaced the belt I thought I'd add this mat to the turntable and it's worked out just fine. I highly recommend this.

Very well made, perfectly flat and a good snug fit on the spindle of my Fluance TT. looks awesome and love the packaging with the sleeve, which gives me a storage sleeve for my older mat should i need it at some point (if i upgrade turntables, i throw the old mat on there and keep this one.)Great price, fast shipping, looks amazing on my TT.My stereo isn't HiFi enough for me to be able to discern any 'midrange enhancement' or 'smoother bass'... but i trust this is better than a rubber mat.

quality is crystal clear, the functionality really makes a difference, my only concern is will it begin to yellow over time?

The quality is very good; it fits perfectly on my Audio Technica Sound Burger. Lays flat, remains stable, and the clear has no color at all. They also have an included warranty if the mat arrives damaged. Mine arrived in perfect condition and works well.
