This leg rest allows you to play a guitar in a classical guitar manner more easily. (Seated, with the neck at a higher angle.)The lower bout of the guitar will go between your legs, and this rest will sit on the leg of your fretting hand. This rest helps keep the guitar at a high angle without your fretting hand holding the neck up. This is intended for use on your left leg (for right-handed players) with the bottom of the body between your legs. I do not think the manufacturer's pictures correctly depict the intended usage.I'm trying this out on an Ibanez AZ with a matte finish. I was very afraid this would scratch the delicate matte paint, but it's well-padded and didn't mar the finish at all. My guitar is 1.75" thick, and this leg rest accommodated it fine. I think it would work well for electrics up to 2.25" with no problems. It does have thicker spreaders to accommodate acoustics as well, but I didn't use those. For 35 years, I always stood while playing. Now, with back issues, I need to sit and play. It doesn't feel right to me with the guitar waist on my right leg, so I wanted to try to hold the guitar seated in a classical style. This has helped me accomplish that! The negatives are that there are no instructions whatsoever included with this leg rest. That is really a miss for this product, and it loses a star for it.However, if you are looking for a comfortable way to hold a guitar in the classical manner, this is worth checking out.

Well it's nicely made with machined aluminium side and red anodised aluminium spans, but in use I found it a royal pain the arse.Basically the unit consists of two sides, separated by two aluminium spars, of which there are three sets and a rubber roller support. Spars can be swapped out with a small hex key (included), while the roller is tightened with thumbwheels. It sounds simple enough but it's a right fiddle. I could be doing things wrong, but there are also no instructions – you just need to work it out.The main problem is that none of the spars seem suitable for any of my guitars. The smallest spars result in a width of about 40mm – my Les Paul is over 50mm, and my S-Type about 45mm including the pickguard. The next size up is way too wide (70mm ish). You can increase the width a little, but it difficult to just how much of the spares are in the sides (to tighten up on). Meanwhile the roller is slopping about or falling out. The rubber padding then left black streaks on the Strat's paint work – at which point I decided to call it a day. With it half fitted it did seem to work quite well, but the set-up is frustrating and fiddly and does not seem to fit common guitar body shapes. Your milage might vary, but I can't recommend it.

I'm pretty disappointed to give this guitar knee rest a poor review, but it simply did not work for me or most of my guitars. The first problem is the width of the guitar that can be accomodated. At it's widest setting that is about 10 cms, and it turns out that both my acoustics, my classical and my nylon string guitar are wider than that. So I think this might be a problem for anybody that doesn't have a slimline guitar width. The stand is well constructed and robust, but it took me a few minutes of head scratching to work out the different configuration possibilities. There are different length rods to match different widths of guitar. It requires some work with the supplied Allen key to reconfigure the width, so it may not be instant to swap over guitars. Some basic instructions would have been nice. Finally, in trying out on one of my guitars that did fit in, I didn't find that it sat comfortably on my thigh, and the guitar fretboard was fixed in a vertical position, so it was difficult to see the fretboard when playing. It's an interesting idea and I'm sure some people will find this stand useful, but I think a footstool or short strap are both better options for my style of play (and both these options will work with all guitars, regardless of width). This is not a stand that I will/could use when playing.
