The mount is kind of flimsy, although being made of metal the clamp isn’t that good. Also, on the fan a zip-tie was used to secure a corner of the fan grille instead of actual screws like the other 3 corners.Otherwise, this product does work fine.

The fan is really powerful and can suck fumes really well, barely smell anything. The only downside is that the clamp is loose and doesn't hold well to anything. I had to jam some scrap rubber in the hole which helps a little but I often have to adjust it perfectly so that I does not slowly turn towards the ground. If you don't mind this then it is worth the money for a cheap and powerful fume extractor.

It’s a good adjustable smoke absorber. Very easy to install and use. It works very good for me, especially when I want to do stir fry at home. Highly recommended if you don't want smoke around you.

Yes, it's made from parts you can assemble yourself, but it's really well built and works. It's easy to put together, is sturdy on the desk and in the arm. The suction is good enough for small and occasional work like I do, so I'm pretty happy.

The first one of these I bought was wired backwards. The arm is built so you can only attach the fan to one side and the clamp to the other. But the fan is wired through the arms, so you can't take it apart.I reordered and got one that was set up as designed. But it was still pretty lousy.The clamp is sharp enough to scratch most surfaces. And you really have to crank it down to get it to work.The arm is only stable in a few positions and you have to fiddle with it quite a bit.I couldn't make it work with my space as intended, so I cut the wires to get the fan out of the arm, 3D printed a base for it, and re-soldered the wiring. It works great now that I've completely taken it apart and rebuilt it into something else.

I have not smelt any solder fumes when this fan is on. I really do like the flexibility of the hinges and the various ways you can mount the unit. I chose to mount this sideways, so I had to really tighten the unit, otherwise, gravity does make it tilt downward a bit. You will need a desk edge or an edge of some sort at least 2 inches to mount this properly

I purchased the version on the arm vs the stationary one and am happy with that decision. That's not to say that the stationary one may suit another's needs just as well. Someone online made a bracket for the stationary one that allowed it to be tilted and moved about on the desktop. For me the arm seems to add more versatility as to where you place it as you work. I mounted mine on the edge of my work table but it also works well attached to an over head shelf. The on/off switch is about 6 inches from the arm base so that may be a consideration as to where you might put it, the reason being that, although the fan noise is acceptable, you may want to shut it on and off as you work. I'm sure a resourceful electronics enthusiast could add a convenient work side switch without too much trouble. The power cord is about 3 feet long. I find the suction quite acceptable and you can see a horizontal stream of smoke (or vertical, if above) being drawn from your work as you solder with no noticeable smell. All-in-all very pleased with the fan for the price.

The fan is pretty good. I use it while soldering stained glass. I just wish the arms were a bit longer, but overall happy.
