This full metal power stage-2 cold air intake system produces up to 5 horsepower and 7 pounds x feet of torque and outflows the factory intake by up to 79 percent. Enclosed in the durable 18-gauge, black powder-coated heat shield is an oil-free washable/reusable conical air filter that improves airflow for increased horsepower and torque. This intake system also features a 3-angle adaptor and a gun metal grey aluminum tube that replaces the stock intake tract and directs increased airflow with improved volumetric efficiency for maximum performance. This system mounts to the lower half of the factory air box. The 4-1/2 inches conical filter intake utilizes a 4-1/2 inches oval conical Pro Dry S performance air filter for maximum flow. This 3-layer progressive, non-oiled synthetic air filter requires no oils for cleaning for maximum convenience. Top mounted heat shield design: aFe developed this heat shield to snap onto the top of the lower half of the factory air box to provide a hassle-free installation utilizing factory mounting locations. 3-angle adaptor: the 3-angle adaptor is used to speed up the air flow after the air filter for improved performance and throttle response. Hassle free installation: this intake replaces the factory intake box and uses the factory inlet tube. All hardware and components are included for a hassle-free installation.

I was averaging about 410-430 miles a tank with the stock OEM intake and after adding this, a full tank Gets me on average 380-400 miles. Adds a SLIGHT sound change but only noticeable when you’re above 3500 RPMs (accelerating to get on a freeway) the hose that’s included is not nearly long enough for the PCV. I had to Jerry rig it just to drive to an automotive store and get a longer hose to fix the problem (picture). After install and turning my truck on it instantly threw the check engine light. So I asked the question “will the check engine light correct itself” and I got a reply from the “Manufacture” that it would clear in about a week with regular driving. That was a little more than a month ago and approximately 4000 miles added with the intake installed. And the check engine light is still on, which is going to cause me to fail smog this year. I’m extremely disappointed in this product and I highly do not recommend anyone buy this intake. I’m stuck with it now since I tried waiting too long to let the check engine light clear. A total waste of my hard earned money.

First opinion when I got the box was more like..."What did I order?" The Box was huge for the item. Though when I open it, the packing kept it safe and secure. There are not many (I only found one online) cold air intakes for the 2,3l ford ranger engine out there. The installation was too easy. It did not change the sound of the engine which is okay. So why only 4 stars and not 5? There are three mounting screws that are supplied. Only two of them fit. It would appear that there is a manufacturers mistake. There is also a rubber seal or protection seal that is mounted on the edge. It was too short and did not cover the complete edge. The installation instructions are fantastic. Nothing was left out and made it simple to install. As for the two little flaws, I am in the Military stationed overseas. I would have sent it back had I been in the states. For what it is worth, I like the setup, it is not the fault of the seller, AFE was at fault and my little Ranger will just have to live with the wrong screw and too short of a rubber seal.

Makes my 2004 Ranger sound nice. Installed easily and solidly. Other than that, it's not worth the money. Technically it should do SOMETHING positive. No power improvement on inclines. Gas mileage went down or at best matches what I had prior.Considering removing it.

I like it.Installation was easy and intuitive. Manual was good with photos.Performance can be felt. Similar to K&N filter. It does sound more at 4000rpm. I like how it sounds. Very normal considering the intention of the design.Looks are ok. they could improve on making the brand name look more integrated with the tube.Filter is sturdy, Metal well prepared. Could improve the hose that goes from pcv valve by making it 1 inch longer. Still it fits well.
