I'd never really considered using one of these AFMs, but after reading some articles I decided to give it a try in my 2013 Chevy Tahoe. It's easy to notice an immediate difference after installing, I noticed the engine was running on all cylinders and had more power when driving overall. It's really easy, simply plug into the OBDII port and it starts working immediately. At first I thought it wasn't working correctly since only 3 of the 4 lights illuminated, but after referring back to the Amazon site, I found that was expected.I will say this works exactly as expected, and I appreciate that it doesn't change codes or anything as I've tried similar devices in the past that were more complex and required reprogramming when taking into an auto shop, etc.As to whether a device like this is an overall benefit, I'm still on the fence. I definitely noticed more power when driving, but I also noticed lower miles per gallon. Not significant but noticeable. I also noticed after driving over the mountains the engine seemed to be more strained/hot than I would have expected, maybe running more on 8 cylinders with more strain. I don't have any definitive proof as to any negative affects, but I decided to stop using it for a bit to better evaluate the overall pros and cons. I will say it's nice to have the option, and I will be using it in the future when I can better measure performance and decide if it's worth using long term.

So far all good. Keeps my 2007 chevy silverado 1500 in v8 mode all the time. I don't have an issue with a battery draw/dead battery but I also drive my truck atleast twice a week. It's good for a bandaid fix before I do a true DOD delete. My one complaint - the constant blue light illuminated, specially at night can be pretty bright and distracting.

I tried two of these and they did not work in my 2021 GM Truck

We've had this in our 5.3L powered Suburban around 500mi with no issues. It plugs right into the OBDII port. It makes the vehicle run in V8 mode all the time however, we didn't even see much of a decrease in fuel economy. We actually saw an increase in fuel economy, but at the same time of installing this AFM disabler, we switched to 265/65R18 from 285/45R22 so that could contribute to some of the MPG gain. All in all, good price to not have to worry about lifters failing while cycling all the time to V4 mode.

I installed and used the device for about one week’s driving. I varied my route to try to put the product to the test.(The package included no explanatory information.)Unfortunately, in my case, I was unable to measure any results, either positive or negative.I can only give this a neutral response.

My car is running a lot smoother. Gas mileage is getting better. Great value!

The GMAFM Active Fuel Management Disabler for GM Motors is an amazing workaround! It quickly resolved my engine misfiring issues on my 2015 Chevrolet Avalanche. I was having issues with it and getting error codes because the AFM system wasn’t working properly. With a quick plugin of this little beauty that issue is now off my back! The disabler is remarkably small at 1.8 inches wide by 1.965 inches long by 0.9 inches tall with 1.375 inches of the length protruding out beyond the OBD-II connection port. So it doesn’t intrude too much into my seating area.It is also stunningly light at 1.0 oz so I don’t have to worry about this shaking loose as I am driving over bumps and rough terrain.

This AFM / DFM device does work and it is easy to install. This device does everything on it's own and there is nothing for you to do but plug it in. It does disable the active and dynamic fuel management systems and disables cylinder shut down. I did notice that the engine had a little more throttle response with this plugged into the OBD link at higher speeds but you are not going to gain torque or horse power with this item. All this item does is reprogram your ECM to not shut down cylinders in your engine that also disables the fuel injectors. You can easily go back to the factory settings by simply unplugging this item. The factory programed AFM / DFM mapping is designed to give you better gas mileage when you are at cruising speed and the transmission in higher gear ranges. I did notice a decrease in miles per gallon of fuel. Some people may use this item and find it useful but it is just one of those things I will not be using anymore personally. I could find use for this item is if I where towing a heavy load. I have nothing against this item I just don't see the rewards verses the gas millage decrease. This item will also put a small constant drain on your battery when plugged in. As the description states do not leave this item plugged in for long periods when you are not using the vehicle as it may drain your battery. I gave it 5 stars because it does work this is just my personal opinion.
