This swing seat is rated to hold up to 660 pounds. That is with the appropriate chains and swing set. We haven't put it to the 660 pound test, but we have had about 275 pounds combined weight with two people. Well, it worked and is still in one piece. We also purchased the Fully Coated Chain 66 Inch Long ( because they are heavy duty, not the weaker chains that came with the swing set. While the seat is a hard plastic, it was comfortable enough for this adult to swing on.We installed this on a large wooden swing set and it works great. Recommend this product for adults that want to swing as the generic swing and chains that come with most swing sets will NOT hold more than about 160ish pounds. For safety, get the properly rated equipment to keep everyone safe.I pride myself on being honest and providing as much detail and information as I can based on my experience with the product. We love these seats! We made the swingset for the grandkids but wanted them for adults as well. So far so ages have enjoyed them! My son is 29 and special needs and fits him really well
