I've been doing electronics repair for years, mostly as a hobby turned side hustle. Lately, I've been working on more complex projects and generating a lot more solder fumes. I knew I needed a dedicated fume extractor and decided to give the Airthereal Solder Fume Extractor Fan a try based on its rave reviews and affordable price. Right out of the box, I was impressed with its compact size and sturdy build. It doesn’t take up much desk space, which is valuable when you're working on intricate circuits.Setup was a breeze, just plug it in and switch it on. The adjustable airflow control is fantastic – I can set it lower for smaller projects and crank it up when I'm tackling something involving heavy soldering. The noise level is definitely a plus. My old makeshift setup with a fan and some furnace filters was a real racket, but this Airthereal unit operates quietly enough that I don't even notice it most of the time. The effectiveness of the 3-stage filtration system is also noticeable. I used to get a slight metallic taste in my mouth after a soldering session, but since using this extractor, that's completely gone. It seems to genuinely capture all the fumes and particles, leaving the air clean and odor-free.Overall, I'm incredibly happy with my purchase. The Airthereal Solder Fume Extractor Fan is a game-changer for my electronics work. It's powerful, compact, quiet, and effectively cleans the air. If you're looking for a reliable and affordable fume extractor to protect yourself while soldering, I highly recommend giving this one a try. You won't be disappointed.

First of all, this is way bigger than I thought it would be. I bought it for my electronics bench but it may be too big for that space. I have used it while cooking as a portable hood vent and it does a great job of pulling the smoke and steam into it. The filter is pretty thin and I'm unsure of how great of a job it really does with filter the air it pulls in but it definitely can move a lot of air.

I tested this fume extractor by doing some soldering work. It appears to pull the smoke well. This allows me to solder joints without having the smoke filled the room as much. The unit comes with three filters. I saw a little debris on the filter after testing with some soldering. I think this would be great for anyone that is using it in the same way.

I picked this up as a portable solder fume extractor but this thing is massive, way larger than it appears on the listing, that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you are soldering things a few inches raised off the top of your table because of how tall it is, if you're soldering circuit boards flat on your table like i am this isn't your best option.

Whether in the kitchen to redirect strong smells (like grilled onions) or redirect and filter fumes when I am soldering small electronics, this is a nice addition. It has a built-in light to add visibility and variable fan speeds. It definitely improves the safety and comfort of the soldering process. Highly recommend it.

While I have no doubt it could be used as a solder fume extractor, it comes clearly marked as a "portable oven hood". For that purpose it's actually quite good. Why wouldn't I use it as a solder fume extractor? Because it's a little too large to be convenient, and it's angle can't be adjusted. You'd have to solder like 10 inches above the surface for this to be really effective. As a portable oven hood, however it has, so far, been very effective. It visibly pulls away smoke and exhausts clear air. My wife has an ongoing battle with the smoke detector that sits about 6 feet from the stove. I used to tease her that the smoke alarm was our dinner bell because the combination microwave/hood we have just isn't very effective at controlling smoke. This thing, however, does the work effortlessly. It's easy to operate, sturdy and works well.Definitely recommended.

This extractor works great, and is pretty quiet when running on the standard setting. I didn't realize how large it would be when I got it - but that's okay. It can handle soldering fumes without any issue.
