I will admit right up front that the AKG D5 isn't the best sounding microphone I've ever owned. But it certainly the best value in its price range.When put up against condenser microphones, especially the likes of the Neumann KMS 105, the D5 does sound a little dark like most dynamic microphones do. But when compared to other microphones in the same class as the D5, it sounds excellent. If you are trying to make a choice between this or the Shure SM57/SM58, pick this one. It is much better.The D5 has a much more neutral sound than other microphones in the ~ $100 price range. It has considerably more crispness, is less nasal, and has good control over the boominess that you typically find in microphones in its class. It also has better gain-before-feedback than even the classic SM58.For use on stage, the D5 is hard to beat. If you are looking for this type of microphone, you can safely stop shopping right now and pick this one up. It isn't perfect, but getting any closer to perfection would cost you quite a bit more.

The mic itself is good. I bought two.. AKG mic (same price without accessories) and this. I thought this has everything. Without proper/detailed instructions, how can I know what else to order so I can use it right away when I buy it. We had a videoke party on a weekend and this was a last minute purchase and we had to look for guitar shop just to buy cords and adapters to make it work. What a trouble!

The mic holder adapter that connects to the stand, was not the correct size and would not screw on. Otherwise great stand and great mic, but disappointing this package didn't have a mic clip that works with the package.

I finally got to test out my mic! This mic sounds much better than the Shure SM58, which I used for years. It seems that when I play flute, articulation is sharper. This mic has a nice warm sound and is very nice for vocals. I think this will be my primary mic for performances and practices (not for recording, obviously). Thanks for the stand and cord and case - very handy!

Product looks good, especially considering the price, but did not have the opportunity to use it as the boom stand did not come with a screw to connect the microphone holder attachments. Was unable to use the boom and therefore had to return. Unfortunately, as I missed the 30-day window to return, I also have to pay a restocking fee for a defective product. :(

Seriously. This mic is incredible. The quality of the build itself is impressive and is sure to be able to take a few good hits, but I'm still going to be cautious. Not out of fear, but out of love. This thing is a beauty to behold.The way my voice sounds through this mic sounds pretty sexy, and if it could be my wing man when I go to the bar, I'd let it. I'm wide range singer and this thing gets everything, but you've got to get pretty close to for the best sounds. Farther away and you'd have to increase the volume of your voice or your sound.
