Just set it on top of the chimney - no complicated installation. Made for Aladdin, it works to reduce clearances on ANY oil lamp (if chimney has a top outside diameter of 2" or less). This one was perfect for me, as long as you realize it's going to get VERY HOT! But it does look nice and keeps a sealed area for your lamps delicate parts. I took a very old one and rebuild it because of the amount of light it throws off compared to a regular kerosene lamp, sure had to do a few sketchy things to get it apart but nothing was damaged in the process. The design of the Aladdin kerosene lamps is excellent, but the materials used were cheep and flimsy, if a modern company remade this design with thicker metals I'd buy one in a heartbeat, As a backup when the electricity goes out, and with the way the government is pushing all this electric car crap, this type of product will be worth its weight in gold. It's obvious the brown outs and black outs are coming and if you can find one of these lamps and get the accessories like this one brand new, BUY IT!

It does disburse the heat! That which would just go straight up now exits more widely and evenly around the top.

I really like the look of the heat shield on when installed on the Lincoln Drape lamps. The heat shield is well made and does work at minimizing the heat generated out of the top of the lamp. Over priced IMO but it seems all things Aladdin are pricey. Would buy again since I think the heat shields are necessary when using the lamps in my house. At this point not sure I will be buying any additional Aladdin lamps based on the general performance of the lamps.
