We were quoted 27,000 dollars for a new door and at this time it wasn't possible to go in that direction. No matter what the governments says -- TIMES ARE TOUGH.Our main door swings outwards so I bought this lock to help keep things in check. The permanent part of the (non- swinging) has pins (for the lack of a better word) which go into the frame on the bottom and top. This looks like a secure setup. On the outward swinging door I installed two small sliding locks -- vertically-- in the bottom tile and the upper part into the frame. This gives one a feeling of security when they are extended. There's only so much one can do.Now I felt with all the crime now coming and living in a hurricane prone area I needed to go a step further. The stainless steel gate lock looked like the right part for my design.By getting a 1/2" thick x 2'' wide x 4" long aluminum spacer from our local metal supplier, I created enough space to be flush with door's own v. molding.I need to drill into the aluminum 4 holes for an 8/32 screw using as the final drill #29 (in my case 1/8") for I don't have a #29) and HD can't help me here.To prove a point to myself -- by holding the alum. spacer I extended the lock and the bolt part slid right over the molding. Now I envision that the swinging door can't open because the bolt is extended past the molding and held captive. On the other end I'll use the 1" part of the lock ( which is mounted on the the non- swinging door) so when the bolt is extended it will fit through it completely. It's got to look good because it's the main door and it must function properly.Drilling this straight will be a challenge-- so I'll start with a small 3/32 drill or so, as a pilot drill and must keep it as perpendicular as possible. I only have a hand drill and it's up to my hands and brain to drill straight. The TORX screws from the outside will receive fender washers and they will be going in almost a 1/4'' into the threaded aluminum piece.I firmly believe this will look and work well as I envision it. Photo to follow...soon.I highly recommend the Alise Slide Lock SUS304 Stainless Steel Gate Latch.

The quality of this bolt Latch is amazing. When I was 14 years old, my Dad gave me his 30-06 hunting rifle after he had it customized with a chromed and polished bolt. A master gunsmith did the work and this Alise Slide Lock reminds me of that work. I am using this bolt slide latch to secure my garage door. The hardware is top shelf. I give it 5 stars.

Received this Alice Slide Bolt today and by its heft in hand, I knew I've made the right choice. The bolt bar is solid steel and features a hole through which a padlock can be fitted through to ensure it remains bolted.
