Just what I wanted. Strong, springy, stiff wire. Joints are not welded but the pattern is tight, if you cut right down the middle between the wires they won't come out of the mesh so easy.

Allstar Performance (ALL22273) 3/16" Opening Stainless Screen, 3' x 4'This stainless steel mesh has four squares per inch (both directions), which I would call 1/4" mesh. The Amazon ad says it's 3/16", presumably because that is the approximate open space in each square, given the wire thickness (17 gauge, 0.04530"). In any case, this mesh is quite stiff, really difficult to fold, and is extremely strong. The mesh itself, by shipping necessity, arrives rolled up (7" diameter), but once cut to project size, can be flattened by hand by slightly bending it in sections against the curve. You might want to wear gloves while working with it, as the edges can be sharp. The box it came in was huge. It cuts OK with aircraft tin snips if you do only a few wires per snip. The Customer Image shows how I used this product. A mini-split compressor, to be mounted outside, had aluminum fins that were poorly protected. This stainless mesh covers the rear and side of that unit to protect the insides from physical damage and debris.

We have a 24" fire pit with a screen that rusted out. I took a chance on using this (3/16") as a replacement. My brother and I were [probably only] able to do this by using a similarly sized trash can as a form. But once we figured that out, it worked great. We didn't use anything but the bends in the material to turn it into a spark screen... no fasteners or anything at this point. For the record, I bought the 3 x 4 size, but probably could have used the 3 x 3.You can see in the last picture that it looks funky the way we left it. We may trim it and weave it back on itself. BUT , as others have said, you have to be careful what you trim because it's only woven, and can fall apart at the edges. There are ways of avoiding it (bending over each dead end) but it would be tedious. So.. maybe later. That said, we're extremely happy that we won't have to replace this spark screen ever again.

I used this to sift kitty litter. Yeah, I know, not something to brag about. I welded up a frame and installed the screen. Works perfectly. Beats using those miniature plastic slotted shovels.I also used my gadget to sift dirt. The screen hole size is perfect to eliminate the larger rocks leaving dirt and tiny gravel perfect for plants. The fact that it's stainless should allow it to last for a good many years.

It takes some work to make it flat, comes in a roll. You have to careful where you cut or it will come apart . Is nice quality overall

Honey bee hives need good ventilation (those little buggers create alot of heat while they work). But using thin or week screen material is an invitation to critters to claw their way into the hive and feast. This material provides excellent ventilation and is strong enough to keep the critters out. (Use a robust stabler to secure the screen material in place).

This is a very high quality stainless steel screen. The finish is highly polished, almost like chrome. One thing I was worried about was how tight the mesh was woven. I've used screen like this before, and when you start cutting or manipulating it, it doesn't hold its shape, and basically unravels. No problem with this screen, it stays together when cut, even in fairly small pieces. I used it to make a couple of "grilles" for the cooling vents on a 2016 Road Glide Ultra. Came out very nice, looks like a custom automotive grille.

I have a small enclosure I got for growing seeds of fruits & vegetables outside, the local stores that sold fiberglass screens only lasted a few days & the grasshoppers chewed through them with ease. Yet this product I had purchased was worth the investment to keep those pesky bugs from destroying my starter plants.Wish I bought this a long time ago, it would have saved me from losing about $100+ in seeds I have purchased from Amazon. Will definitely be a returning customer once I need more.
