It is suggested that the anchoring pin be at least five times the diameter of the cable and that the connector be set at a distance from the pin equal to 2.5 times the diameter of the pin. We stock sizes for cable diameters 1/16 inch or greater, plus 0.037 inches in zinc plated copper and 0.024 inches in brass for securing very fine cables.

Are you really reading a review for a $.5 Aluminum cable connector? Have you had a bad batch before? What exactly are you looking for? They are aluminum or Lead or God only knows what but you can smash them with a hammer and then they keep your cable connected for a while. In fact I’ve never had them fail so they must be pretty good. If you’re still reading this review, you probably don’t need to buy these. You shouldn’t be trusted with tools or cable or a drivers license.

Very impressed with the strength of these crimps, I would recommend doing the loop that you twist the tail end around to put more friction on the cable itself than the crimp in any situations you need a loop though.

I first balked at using these crimped sleeves -- because the crimping tool is so pricey! So I used little U-clamps instead. They work. But on consideration, and seeing another bunch of projects on the horizon, I sprung for the crimping tool and am now glad I did. These make a much cleaner installation. [I also use the little ferrules - see pic - but they are difficult to hold in place (with one hand) whilst operating the crimping tool (2 hands). If I only had three hands! I started using masking tape to hold the ferrule in place while I applied the close-in ferrule.]

Soft aluminium allows any vice or clamping device. Special crimping tool is convenient for volume use but not neeeded; I used a six inch bench vice and two framing nails.
