Color looks amazing!It is a very dark and true black. I fire to cone 6 and did not clear over the black and it looks great. Highly recommended and I'll be buying more.

Amaco's velvet black underglaze should be a staple in everybody's pottery studio. Black makes everything pop and adds character to my pieces when I paint it on a bisque piece and wipe it off leaving it just in the crevices.

With three coats, this underglaze provides solid coverage. I like the Amaco Underglazes because I can control the color and easily apply small details. Without a clear glaze over it, it will fire to an almost suede look like the first picture. With glaze, it looks like the second photo.

Amaco is my preferred underglaze. Have had better, more satisfying results than with other brands

It does get pin holes but does well in a bisque fire and again with a clear glaze fire up to the higher end of cone 6. It is very absorbent which does effect the glaze on top depending on what you use. Mayco’s mirror black for example doesn’t have the mirror finish, more of a satin finish, but clear works the same. Over all great under glaze, works well for what I need it for and it shipped fast!

This is an excellent product, but the first time I ordered it, it was lost in the mail, and this second time it was badly damaged, due to inadequate packing material.
