One of the reasons that I used to like Ampad (vs TOPS or other brands) was because Ampad had clean paper. Consistently free of any adulterations that could happen in the manufacturing process. For over a decade I have used this paper from the engineering classroom to industry, it was consistent, clean, free of inclusions and a genuine joy to use. With this last order I now find that ampad is owned by tops and their quality is now on par with their 'competitor'EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE. has black or brown flecks that are clearly part of the manufacturing process and that tops didnt care enough to filter out, its thinner and of significantly poorer quality than it used to beBottom line: if price is a concern, go elsewhere. If paper quality is important, go elsewhere. This is "engineering" paper in name only.TOPS makes a terrible product and they have brought their substandard QC and expectations to what used to be a reputable brand

The margins on this paper are shifted far to the right, causing a right-hander to hang off the edge of the pad for much of the usable writing space. This would be perfect for left-handers because the left margin is very wide, and the right margin is almost at the edge of the paper. I, however, am right-handed, so I appreciate the quality control and uniform margins to be found on the National Brand Computation paper (also on Amazon). As for the Ampad paper, it is green-tinted, and unlike the photo, the grid lines show through just fine. I will be giving this pad to a high school student for his algebra homework. For myself, I need the more professional appearance of the National Brand.
