About this item

  • Coupling fitting for connecting two tubes with the same diameter
  • Flared tube connection on one side and a female NPT connection on the other
  • Brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability
  • Operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F
  • Resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection
  • These fittings contain lead and are not allowed by federal law to be installed for potable water use in the U.S.A. and its territories.

This Anderson Metals coupling compression tube fitting is made of brass, has a flared tube connection and a female NPT connection, and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems. It is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. This fitting can be used with copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing to connect two tubes of the same diameter in a straight run. It has a flared tube connection on one end and a female National Pipe Taper (NPT) connection on the other, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is part of an assembly that resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection, and can be assembled and reassembled without affecting the seal. This coupling compression tube fitting has an operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and vacuum applications.

Tube fittings are components used for connecting, branching, terminating, and changing the direction of tubing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They are made of brass, stainless steel, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), and other materials that resist corrosion and wear. Tube fittings have various types of connections, including threaded, welded, barbed, and push-to-connect (also called one-touch). Push-to-connect connections do not require tools or sealants. Tube fittings are used in various applications, including machine tools, airplane and truck controls, and automated production lines, among others.

Anderson Metals manufactures brass fittings, valves, and pipe nipples. The company, founded in 1951, is headquartered in Kansas City, MO.

I used this to make a pressure adapter to test HVAC refrigerant lines prior to evacuating and charging. A fully evacuated system will only see about 29 psi of differential pressure and that's not enough to see of the fitting will leak in operation where high pressures exist on the high side. Anyway, if you pressure test BEFORE you evacuate the system, you don't need to use nitrogen or another noble gas since you will be removing it all to purge/clear the lines. Yes, the test pressures I used are less than specified but five times that of a fully evacuated system. BTW... use Nylog on all your fittings including on the BACK of the flares. This helps prevent galling while torqueing the fittings and ensures a proper seal on the faces of the flares.
