I'm using this for a hitch mount bike rack that was too loose in my 2" hitch receiver.I find it effective in reducing, but not eliminating, the rattle of the hitch. My receiver has a raised rounded lip (which I think is pretty common) that prevents more flush tightening of the bottom plate, so overall it's not as much contact as the device seems to be designed for. The order in which you bolt it is a little strange too - it goes: washer, bolt, locking washer, second bolt. So you need to tighten two separate bolts at different times, time both sides. I've never seen that before and while it may add more security, I think it will become frustrating for any hitch that comes on and off often.I'd recommend this for hitches that are mounted more long-term, but for something you take on and off frequently depending on your usage, it may be too much extra work.

My hitch used to make all kinds of clunking noises when I towed my boat. I bolted this thing on and the problem was solved. To be honest, I didn’t think it would work. I’m very happy I was wrong

It stopped my hitch from clunking when I would go over bumps in roadways . Simple to instal and is not very noticeable on my hitch.

Hardware and finish is great. This should last. No concerns with rust.Installed 3 months on a travel trailer hitch with no issues.
