I have had other expensive kitchen counter compost bins and this is by far the nicest one yet! It has a separate plastic pail inside the metal bin, which is very easy to clean. The plastic on the bin feels like a good quality, heavy plastic which I think will hold up well. The metal bin seems to be of good quality also. The lid does contain a filter which is nice to keep odors at bay and it comes with two additional replacement filters too. The bin also included a roll of recyclable plastic bags, which we will not be using, as we put the contains of the bin directly on our mulch pile outside. All the rigid components are washable and easy to clean. However, I wouldn't recommend putting harsh chemicals, like bleach water or other "sanitizing" products on the metal bin to clean it. I think the harshness of the chemicals would deteriorate the outside finish (and inside). I wipe the outside bin down, but if I feel the need to really clean it, I will wash it in hot water with mild dish soap and dry it with a cloth or allow it to air dry. If I need to purchase another bin, I would purchase this same one! It is worth it and I highly recommend!

This is slightly smaller than the wooden composter bin we had before. Everything fits well and it is easy to keep clean. The charcoal filter is a feature we didn't have before and it is a good design addition. The included bags are compostable. It is not unattractive, but I would have liked a color option like tan or brown. I really don't think you need to call attention to a compost bin! The one we chose is listed as creamy white, and I would correct that to bright white. I think it should be good for at least a few years.

We have green waste recycling in our city, which tends to be a messy process. The compostable items sit around for a week between garbage days. This lovely compost collection can is a great solution for a relatively messy process. It keeps those scraps covered and tucked away between pickups.The metal can and lid are high quality with a smooth finish inside and out. The best parts however are under the lid.There is a thick mesh filter inside covering the vent holes in the lid to keep the flies out. 2 extra filters are also included. The compost can also has a heavy duty plastic bucket liner bucket with a handle making transfers & cleaning easy. There's even a sizable roll of plastic bags to line that bucket if your green waste process allows plastic bags in the stream. Ours does not.If you're looking for a convenient solution to collect and hold those compostables between transfers this can is an ideal solution.

I'm new to countertop scrap collection, having before either trashed my peelings and such, or when the weather was nice, taking them directly outside for in the ground composting. I wasn't sure I was going to like having another item on the counter, but this can has a relatively small footprint and the light blue color is a nice neutral.One small detail that shows the quality of the manufacturer is they wrapped the outside handle in bubble wrap for shipping which made sure there were no scratches during shipping. While this could/should have been paper for a 'compost' product, I was happy to receive it in excellent shape.The biodegradable bags are great for taking waste out and the volume of the can is nice for our two person household. I fill this about every two or three dinners. The seal works well and the filter is a nice addition to the lid.
