The assembly was very straighforward and simple. My son and I were able to get it completed in about an hour with minimal tools. The instructions were decent (pictures only), but the illustrations were clear. It is sturdy but includes brackets to secure it to the building where you install it. I liked the tinted panels for shade. The amount of shade it provides is more than I anticipated, which is a good thing. I have it outside the front door to a small building by our pool. It protects the door from rain and rotting due to being in the weather. Additionally, way the shade panels connect to each other provides excellent protection from rain. Very inexpensive for the quality of pergola you get.

We got this to provide some extra shade for the summer in our backyard. It took the two of us about 3 hours to put it together. The assembly was pretty easy and even though the instructions didn’t have words, they were clear. Occasionally a screw wouldn’t align with a hole but we were able to work it in. It absolutely needs to be attached to a wall as it’s flimsy with out it but it comes with everything to attach. This is the 8x10 and the materials didn’t feel cheap at all. Pretty good value for the size.

The awning is shipped in two boxes, the first being the awning frame members which is very heavy, and the second the roof panels. Note that the first box may not indicate the contents, and Amazon's order list may not show the item as shipped or delivered until the last item is processed. We received the panels two days after the framing. Both were shipped and arrived ahead of the projectd delivery date. There are a lot of parts and fasteners, including three different size hex bolts, two different size washers and a bag of nuts. They also include expansion bolts for anchoring the legs and wall brackets. The fasteners come in labeled bags so you know which to use during the assembly process. They also include a little open ended wrench and little allen key. The fasteners are metric, so if you have metric hex keys and sockets, or, a drill with metric driver bits, assembly might be easier and faster.Assembly took us 1 day and 3 evenings. You have to closely pay attention to the assembly diagrams to avoid errors. If you follow the printed instructions you will first assemble the roof and then lift that onto the columns, which will require 4 people to do that safely. One of the assembly videos show the roof being assembled to the columns piecemeal. We did it the first way, assembling the entire structure in our driveway, then having 4 people carry the whole thing (don't try that in breezy weather) over to the final location on the other side of the house over a basement entry stairway and small adjacent patio. The expansion bolts provided as leg anchors might not be sufficient depending on your situation, or you might need long exterior construction screws or lag bolts to attach the rear leg brackets to your wall. If you are going to anchor it freestanding to a cement patio, you might want longer concrete anchors. If it is going freestanding on a lawn, you will need very long lawn anchors you can get on Amazon, or, you might consider pouring small cement posts for anchoring it.The unit is nicely finished in an antique bronze tone and seems reasonably sturdy after it is anchored to the ground and a house wall. In my opinion, unless you anchor it to cement footings it would not be a good idea to use it freestanding. The roof panels are a translucent, corrugated plastic material that diffuse the light and make it more comfortable under the awning. The product page says the roof can bear 55lbs per square meter, which is probably fine for light snow. A heavy wet snow however might collapse the roof. You might consider purchasing PVC roof panels from a home center to install over the awning's own panels if you live in a area that gets heavy snow, and be prepared to remove the snow from the awning.

If you’re looking for something that will last for 6 months, look somewhere else. The metal is so cheap and flimsy anyone can bend it over their knee. Of course that means it’s not sturdy at all. We put this up in September I believe, it’s now January and the entire awning crumpled under the weight of 2 inches of snow. On top of that, it was a b**** and a half to put together. Took probably 8 hours with 2 people. The only redeeming quality I can say it looked good when we first put it up.Save your money.

The build was easy enough. The brochure can use some improvement in detailing some hidden views. All screws went in except two. For $899, I can't complain. Still pretty nice looking patio pergola. The cover is somewhat opaque allowing dimmed sunlight to shine through. That can be easily remedied with tarp fabrics. The structure is fairly light and the straightness of the posts and interconnections requires attention and efforts.

Takes at least two strong people and no less than four hours. The guy saying he did it alone in two hours must have super powers cuz that’s just silly. Product is GREAT!! very sturdy, nice looking, blocks weather. Highly recommend.

We received everything in the two big boxes. No missing or broken parts. Everything accounted for. The instruction booklet was not incredibly well written, and left some detail to be desired (think Ikea instructions, but harder). So for that reason it did take us a bit of time to get all the small pieces assembled. But once we got it outside and was actually starting to put the big pieces together, it came together pretty easily. This definitely took 4 people when we got to the point of raising each leg/corner! I don't think we would have been able to do it with just 2 people. The panels are waterproof and fit into the tracks easily. It honestly looks amazing and we are so happy with it! Such a great addition to our backyard and having the patio covered is so helpful for the kids playing outside! It is worth the work of putting it together!
