Few 3-inch strainers have this nice bell shape design with holes in the bottom and right sized for sucking out pond silt while protecting fish and wildlife. Very unfortunate that even after multiple tries and using lubricant that the only way I could thread this on was by using a mallet to jump the bad strainer threads over the metal hose threads.

Wrong thread size. It says it is a 3" and when it came it was a 3 1/2 " thread size.
