I had read the evals on this prior to ordering and was wondering how the quality control was and such. It turned out to be very well made and yes its made in china like most of the other products that come into this country. I had the choice to buy OEM for about 200 dollars or to take a chance on some other name for about 50 dollars. I do my own auto work so i knew if it wasnt no good then i would be doing that replacement job again. It turned out on my 2010 xterra to be a extremely good deal and like some evaluations complain about.. and this is completely normal by the way. Yes it roars a little bit upon startup but quicly disengages. The device is filled with Silicone Oil and then there are two areas that are engaged based on the temperature of the thermostat which feeds or releases oil to the vanes based on temp. So cold it wont let fluid flow and then warm as it nears hot it slowly allows the silicone oil to flow and then the drag gets heavier and heavier and then engages the fan. One thing i noticed right away was the temp of the engine ran about 20 percent cooler. The old one was 14 years old and i noticed the seal leaked a little and it looked pretty dry. So in replacing these you get the new seal and then the bearing is new also and one thing to remember on the Nissan Xterra. there is a pulley that is a dummy pulley and it just spins on a traiangle shaped mouting and this fan clutch mounts to that. It should be checked for wobble as they wear out also. These fan clutches all have different characteristics and if you buy a Heavy Duty fan clutch it runs alot more then a standard duty one. When fully engaged it will match the pulley rpms. but when getting to that point it might only spin say 80% of the fan pulley rpm speed. Until it is fully engaged by heat then it will be at 100 percent of RPM for the pulley. If your pulling a trailer in the heat then of course you need the heavy duty one. But normally the standard is just fine. It all adds up. Poor air circulation means radiator is hotter and then the ac condenser is hotter too and the car interior hotter in summer time. The later fan clutches have electronic plugs on them and the computer of the car monitors them. THese things basically a science and not to be ignored as you may think you have a water pump problem and overlook the fan clutch and find that the culprit was the fan clutch all along. The older they get the more silent they get and then when people install a brand new one they complain IT ROARS. ha ha no kidding. THey do roar but normally just for less then a minute. THis company seems to have good quality control and i looked at theyre web pages and was impressed with what they wrote on it. Some companys they dont seem to have much pride but this company they seem to strive on it. For the money its good. How long it lasts time will tell. In economic times where everything is high priced i tend to go cheaper and try to buy quality. This to me is quality and the only thing i noticed on it is the old one had holes drilled into the mounting plate against the pulley but this one has slots cut into it. It seems it wont make no difference. and BY the way on the 2010 xterra with the 4.0 engine the torque on those bolts is about 6.8 ft lbs . One other thing pay attention to the fan its labeled FRONT and if you put it on backwards it wont pull the air correctly. Great Product and i feel lucky to have found it.

The price for this class of fan clutches really can't be beat, so I should give it a 5 star because it works. It's been a few days, so I can't speak to the longevity. But it's loud. I'm hoping that it will quiet down over time because I really don't want to change this out again.
