I connected this to my AprilAire 6404 zone controller and it worked perfectly!I had been having problems with tripping the thermal limit in my furnace when heating only the smallest zone in the house - the small zone wasn't carrying heat away from the furnace fast enough, and after 7 or 8 minutes the furnace's thermal limit would trip, requiring a trip to the attic with tools to open up the furnace and reset it.With the plenum sensor installed, this no longer happens. When the furnace exhaust starts to overheat, the plenum sensor trips, the "Heating" light on the Zone Controller starts to flash, and it de-asserts the "call for heat" signal to the furnace controller. At that point, the burner immediately goes out and the furnace begins its cool-down cycle. After a couple of minutes, the plenum sensor resets and the "Heating" light goes back on solid. Once the furnace completes its cool-down cycle (five minutes or so), the burner immediately comes back on and heating starts again.I am SO pleased with this purchase. My HVAC installer had set up these "dump zones" in my house to provide extra air outlet for the furnace, but I hated them. They just heated parts of the house I didn't want heated, and not only that, sometimes heated them to intolerable levels. But shutting those vents off was leading to tripping the thermal limit in the furnace. The plenum sensor fixes everything. Clearly the AprilAire people realized that this scenario can happen when you retrofit a zone system on an existing furnace, and this solves the problem exactly as it should be solved. Excellent product, excellent solution.

No wiring diagram is included requiring you to find your owners manual from the the humidifier. Other than that installation was easy and the unit seems to be working well.

We bought it to use on the furnace humidifier. Makes life easier by have the humidifier adjust automatically during the Winter rather than having to adjust it manually. It was easy to install.

Historically I was having problems with over-humidifying in my house, and I was going downstairs every other day to the mechanical room to adjust the Aprilaire 600 control unit. I called the Aprilaire Tech Support and was advised I needed the 8052 Outdoor Temperature Sensor to resolve this problem. After installing the 8052 outdoor temperature sensor, hours later the system automatically adjusted the indoor humidity levels in my house based on the current outdoor (-9) temperature; the 8052 Outdoor Temperature Sensor, has resolved the over-humidifying problem I had in my house. Pict #1 & 2 (before the 8052) connection Pict #5 the 8052 Outdoor Temperature Sensor and my windows afterwards. The 8052 Outdoor Temperature Sensor was very easy to install, and I would highly recommend this product.

I bought another one from a different manufacturer and it was about 6 degrees off. This one was spot on for a lot less money! Worth getting!

Perfect replacement for my aprilaire humidifier. Had new ac and furnace put in and genius doing the install cut my original off and hid the wires. Winter comes along and no humidifier. Bought this replacement amd after a 5 minute install my humidifier is up and running.

The temperature sensor was identical to the original sensor that was installed with my Aprilaire 8052 humidifier several years ago. Other than its function I appreciated that the wire leads were the same length as the original so that I did not have to modify any wiring when I replaced the original. The mounting bracket was also identical which made replacement easier. After installing the replacement sensor, the E3 error code went away and the humidifier resumed normal operation.
