This filter is the worst! It’s noisy and difficult to clean. For the first year I had a rubber band holding it together. Then I needed a wadded up paper towel between the wall and filter to quell the racket it made. Then even the paper towel didn’t work. It hummed and rattled so loud I could hear it downstairs with the door closed! Today after not even two years since purchasing it I pitched it and got another brand. I’m 72 years old and have had aquariums since I was 5. Never had problems with any filter and they all lasted several years. No need for two filter pads for a ten gallon aquarium. If you do water changes once a month or so and don’t over feed you won’t need two filter pads. Just another way to rip you off. If you decide to purchase this filter only use one filter.

Overall great filters. Ive owned one for over a year. Very easy when doing water changes to unplug filter and plug back in without priming or adding water to pump basket. Pump maintains suction even when water is down to the intake tube. Biofoam is an excellent addition keeps tank from crashing. The filters can get noisy when the filter pad gets dirty and water flows out overflow. But that just let's ya now it's time to change filters.A lot of reviews complain about the noise. They're very quite when the water level is equal to discharge chute. About an inch below is when you'll hear water noise.Great value

I had to replace my old one and chose to go with "old faithful". This is a filter I will use as long as they make! I have a 35 gallon tank with two HUGE fancy goldfish. They love their home and all their toys!

I’ve used this particular aquarium filter for years and when it stopped working, I bought another to replace it. This next one didn’t last very long at all. Thinking I had just received a ‘lemon’, I ordered another. Again, it worked great at first, but only worked for a couple of months before the water flow was almost nonexistent. I followed the instructions and cleaned the impeller. Still, nothing. I decided that I had to be missing something so I began examining the impeller housing a little more closely. I found that not only does the impeller area collect impurities, but the tube area above the impeller does also. There are slits in the plastic tube above the impeller housing where things can collect and block the flow of water. After removing this blockage, the filter worked like new! So, the problem really isn’t with the filter. The problem is that the instructions only go so far as to tell you to clean the impeller, but not the area above it. As a side note…I use polyester fiberfill in a small corner filter and it was those tiny fibers that I found to be wrapped up in the impeller and also blocking the slits. It’s a great filter if cleaned properly!

Es mi 3er filtro, ha sido el mejor hasta ahora. el nivel de ruido es tolerable y cumple muy bien la función.Actualización... duró sólo 3 meses y dejó de funcionar

I followed the instructions to assemble the item. After plugged in, it pumps water for 5 minutes. Then smoke came out and finally stopped. What can I do to troubleshoot? Or is it completely broken and a replacement is needed?

Después de 2 filtros anteriores que no duraron ni un año, encontré este. Es un excelente filtro, de muy fácil ensamble e instalación y los reemplazos se consiguen muy fácilmente. Mantiene el agua de mi acuario ( 30L ) en perfectas condiciones por meses!
