I got this little camera and a 24 inch ribbon cable for my octopi. Works just fine for what I need and the picture quality is great. The only problem is that I cannot adjust the focus range. It has the castle nut style housing on the lens but I cannot seem to get it to budge with a tool or even a screwdriver. It's a little frustrating that my printer is hazy and the background is in perfect focus. Not sure if this is an issue with my model or if it's not an intended feature, but having a functional focal range would make this an easy 5-star and great value.

I bought this as I figured I'd take the risk and buy this one instead of the official one for 2x the price. I have a really slow upload speed so a Ring or Nest cam would be relatively useless for me, but I still wanted something similar to those. I set this up with motioneyeos to be able to continuously take low sized photos and send one to me when it detects motion. So, in short I have a really simple/low tech smart security camera. I attached a photo as a sample, while it is not the best quality, it is only 66 KB and I have the quality set to about high medium on purpose. Yet, you can clearly see faces and details on the photos when applicable.I have this running with a Zero W and it has been running for weeks without rest without problem. Plenty of applications for this, and for the low price it's worth it for some fun tinkering with your raspberry pi.

Product title states that this is compatible with the Pi 5. The included ribbon cable is not compatible with the new Pi, and there are no other cables included. Now I need to buy an additional ribbon cable separately to make this work. Huge waste of time and just overall not stated in the description or comments, anywhere.Update: The company has been super responsive in offering either a refund, or a replacement cable for the one that should’ve come in the box. They were very willing to make things right

I used this and an RPi to run Octoprint and it worked well in that instance. I'm sure it would also work for the Klipper printer I turned that RPi into but, I couldn't seem to make that work.

I give this product 5 stars because it is exactly as it is described. Works great with, in my case, RPi 3B with and produces a pretty and clear picture. Considering the price, I'm very happy with it. That's said, I do have two other RPi cameras, official RPi v2 cameras - one with and one with out IR filter (NoIR). When I compare the picture of the 8MP RPi V2 camera to the picture of this 5MP Arducam, I have to say that the colors on the Arducam are visibly inferior to the V2. That, in my opinion, is to be expected from the device I paid roughly 40% less than the V2 camera. I guess what I am trying to say is that this is an excellent little camera for the money, but if you want a slightly better camera go to RPi V2 camera and spend a little more money.

This camera module works well with the second generation Raspberry Pi (2B). The quality is decent, even in a low light environment.

Running on Raspberry Pi 3 A+ and Raspbian 10 Buster.Primarily using the camera with Octoprint to monitor 3D printing progress. Installs easily - ribbon cable is a bit short, but I've mounted the camera and the Rpi together on an arm to the printer.Image is a bit soft regardless of focal distance - everything isn't super sharp regardless of distance to the lens. So don't expect being able to read license plates or words with this camera. For my application of monitoring 3D prints, it serves its purpose. All in all pretty satisfied. A little more expensive that other 3rd party camera modules, but the Arducam came packaged nicely in a small box, sealed in an anti-static bag, and worked on the first pass.

The camera is non-functional out of the box, and most likely defective. It is probably just my part that is defective because others report it working fine with the Model 3B+. Very disappointing.

Just as other reviewers have done, I'm using this primarily with OctoPrint. It does the job, I can monitor what is happening, but the image quality is really poor. It's dark and fuzzy and any source of light will cause the image contrast to go off. As per the attached pictures, you can see it mounted to the right of the hotend, but yet the image is super dark. If you want to create beautiful timelapse videos or even see the detail of your print remotely, I'd suggest looking for something different. The cable is also a tad too short and I had to get an extended cable to mount this where I needed it.
