Generally speaking, what you see is what you get. I always use Ariens products (i.e. oil, hi temp grease, etc) for my snowblower when I can and they seem to work. Whether you could just as easily use any off the shelf 5w-30 product, I couldn’t tell you. The markup doesn’t bother me enough to experiment.I have some small issues with packaging. I don’t like the metallic seal on the nozzle as it does not come off easily and I am paranoid about a piece of it getting into the engine. However, this is a common packaging thing and I won’t hold it particularly against Ariens.My bigger gripe is the size (16 oz). My machine (a very popular model for home owners) and others that have the same engine take 20 oz. It seems like they could offer a 20 oz container or a 10 oz size as measuring it out is a pain and you always have some weird amount left over.Once again, seems like a good product over all.

It's just oil for a snowblower, so I really can't get "jacked" over an item like this. BUT, I do believe in using the oil the manufacturer recommends. This gets the job done and haven't had any issues.
