It is suitable for other mediums besides pastel and charcoal, and the wide range of colors provide a variety of ambient backgrounds.The Warm Tones Pack contains one sheet each of sand, rich beige, Australian grey, soft umber, raw sienna, terracotta, burnt umber, olive green, aubergine, and burgundy. I prefer this pastel paper to all others. It comes in a variety of colors. It holds layer upon layer of hard or soft pastels. It can be a little hard on your fingers when you blend your colors, but I have a variety of tools, etc that do the blending as well or better than my fingers. I think it's much better than any other pastel paper on the market.

I love this surface. It's pretty rough and you will get a rough look in your painting. But it's nice. It has about a 1/4 inch border though so I have to completely tape down all 4 sides.

This is high quality professional paper for soft pastels. I really like the tooth of this paper as it holds many layers of pastels. The package comes with an assortment of colors so you can pick and choose depending on the look you want for each painting. This paper also holds up to a small amount of water, which is helpful for under paintings.

I'm not hugely a fan of sanded papers, but I needed a piece for a class. This paper was reasonably easy to keep clean, and it holds a LOT of pencil.
