Purchased these for my seven year old granddaughter. I played hours and hours of jacks as a child. The side of my hand white and smooth from playing on cement.She watched intently as I showed her how we pick up one at a time and then when accomplished we go to picking up two at a time and so forth. We practice tossing the ball strait up and letting it bounce and catching it. Then we went on to picking up the Jack and catching the bounced ball. She struggled for a bit then finally did one perfectly. She surprised herself! I told her ‘now you know you can do it’ she continues to practice.The ball is great! Heavy enough and solid. Jacks are colorful and large. As she gets better I will purchase a standard size. She loved knowing what ‘kissing’ jacks meant. I love the things of our past. We watch the old cartoons on Saturdays together too. Memories!

A friend who is a paramedic always tells me how tiny bouncy balls are a dangerous choking hazard for kids. Therefore I bought these jumbo jacks hoping the ball would be large enough to be safe. Unfortunately the jacks are jumbo but the ball is extremely small. We will need to buy bigger bouncy balls and throw these away. Also this item, while a good deal for three, does not make a good gift (which is one of the questions asked) in my opinion. They come in plastic baggies rather than on a card, so not a top presentation. These will work out for some people but we’re a bit of a fail for my needs.

This is a great jacks set. Unfortunately I bought it for my cat. I throw them and she fetches, holding the little ball (at the end of each arm) in her teeth as she returns it to be thrown again. I’m sure it would be great for it’s original purpose as well. I do wish the jacks were a tiny bit larger, but that’s for my purpose not the one they were originally designed and sold for.
